Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Screenshot Organizer SnapTimer app ("the app", "we") handles, what stays on your phone, and what is sent to third parties. We have written it to be complete and accurate. If anything is unclear, contact us using the details at the end.
1. What the app does
The app helps you organize the screenshots on your phone. It detects new screenshots and, while the screenshot timer is running, saves each new one into the folder you picked. You can also import existing screenshots into folders, search them by the text they contain, edit them (crop, rotate, draw), share them, remove duplicate gallery copies, and optionally take screenshots with a floating button. Premium features are available through Google Play subscriptions or a one-time purchase.
2. Data that stays on your device
The following is processed and stored only on your device. We do not have servers, we do not receive this data, and it is never uploaded by the app:
- Your screenshots. The app reads images from your screenshot folders (using the photo permission you grant) to show and organize them. Screenshots you add to a folder are copied into the app's private storage on your phone.
- Text inside screenshots. To make search work, the app reads the text in your screenshots using on-device text recognition (Google ML Kit). The recognized text is saved in the app's local database and never leaves your phone.
- Folders and settings. Folder names, which screenshot is in which folder, and your app preferences.
- Removing duplicate gallery copies. If you use this feature, the app finds the original gallery copies of screenshots you have already saved into its folders and asks Android to delete them. Android shows its own confirmation and nothing is deleted unless you approve it. The copies in your folders are kept.
- Sharing. Screenshots are only shared when you choose to share them, to the app you pick.
- Screen captures from the floating button. When you turn on the floating screenshot button and tap it, Android asks for your permission to capture the screen. Captures are saved on your phone only.
The app is excluded from Android cloud backup, so this local data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
3. Data collected and shared by third-party services
The app includes software development kits (SDKs) from Google. These SDKs automatically collect some data from your device and send it to Google over an encrypted connection. We do not receive this data ourselves.
| Data | Collected by | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Approximate location (estimated from your IP address) | Google AdMob | Advertising, analytics, fraud prevention |
| App interactions (for example app launches, taps, ad views) | Google AdMob | Advertising, analytics, fraud prevention |
| Diagnostics (app and SDK performance information) | Google AdMob, Google ML Kit | Analytics, fraud prevention, improving the SDK |
| Device identifiers (Android advertising ID, app set ID, per-installation IDs) | Google AdMob, Google ML Kit | Advertising, analytics, fraud prevention |
Advertising (Google AdMob). The free version of the app may show ads served by Google AdMob, which collects and shares the data above with Google to show ads, measure them and prevent fraud. Ads may be personalized unless you limit this. Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent form before personalized ads are shown. Text recognition (Google ML Kit). ML Kit runs on your device; your screenshots and their text are not sent to Google. ML Kit may send diagnostic and usage information (device and app details, performance metrics, identifiers) to Google; it does not share this with third parties.
Purchases (Google Play Billing). Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment details. The app checks with Google Play whether you have an active purchase.
4. Permissions the app asks for
- Photos / media images – to find, display, import and (only with your confirmation) delete duplicate copies of your screenshots.
- Notifications – for reminders and the status notification while the app is detecting or indexing screenshots.
- Display over other apps – only if you enable the floating screenshot button.
- Screen capture (asked by Android each time it is needed) – only when you use the floating button.
- Ignore battery optimizations (optional) – so screenshot detection keeps working in the background.
- Internet – used only by the Google services described in section 3.
5. Your choices
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, in your phone's Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on the device).
- You can revoke any permission at any time in Android settings.
- You can delete all data stored by the app by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.
- A premium purchase removes ads.
6. Data retention and deletion
Data stored on your device stays there until you delete it, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app. We do not keep copies on any server, so there is no account or server data for us to delete. Data collected by Google through the SDKs is handled under Google's Privacy Policy.
7. Security
Data sent by the Google SDKs is encrypted in transit. Data stored by the app is kept in its private storage area, which other apps cannot access.
8. Children
The app is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the app's data practices change, and change the effective date above.
